Brief History

St Ann Gichocho girls sec. school came in to existence on 4th Jan 2005, through the initiative of Mr. Ndungu Mbugua, a church leader at Gichocho who requested Sr. Mary Kileen to begin a secondary school for girls at Gichocho. Sr. Mary Kileen passed this idea over to the Missionary Sisters of St. Ann whose Charism is to empower the girl child, through formal education and spiritual formation, to form women of faith & character, accepted this mission trusting in the providence of God, through the Kiambu catholic church authorities and the local community.

With all the necessary documents put in place with the Archdiocese of Nairobi & the Ministry of Education, the long journey of St. Ann Gichocho had its humble beginning in the vacant classrooms of the adjacent Gicoco primary school. The Catholic Church provided a plot to construct the secondary School & agreements were made duly, that the Sisters of St. Ann will slowly construct the school and manage it. The Sisters began writing projects to funding agencies outside Kenya and managed to get funds for a few buildings in the school, like the administration block & 4 classrooms, kitchen & Dining hall.

When the going became tough, Sr. Mary Kileen introduced the Sisters of St. Ann to Dr. C. Sheth, a man with the clean heart and generous Spirit, who came to the rescue of the Sisters to raise the rest of the infrastructures for the school. Over the past 11 years the school has completed most of its infrastructures and facilities through various donors and benefactors, by the earnest search of Dr. Sheth on behalf of the Sisters. To mention a few of the  donated buildings, 4 more classrooms, 2 Science Laboratories, Dormitories, Library, Hom.science  & Computer labs and the multi lingual classroom. The school is eternally grateful to our donors, whose sacrifice and good will gave life to this institution. The school was officially opened on 18th February 2007 by the then Minister for education Hon.George Saitoti and the Archbishop of Nairobi blessed the school.

The School has preserved its strong Catholic traditions and ethos, forming women of faith and character. Discipline running at its high pace, the school has maintained an overall C+ in KCSE examinations and is the best private school in Kiambu Sub County for the past 4years.  The school sets new academic strategies every year to keep excellence records in holistic education.

The school has sent out 9 batches of KCSE candidates, as women of faith & caliber to face the changing and challenging trends of the Society.

All glory to God who steers this institution to greater heights.
